The Meeting Follow-up Play automatically creates an email task after a meeting is complete, so reps can send a timely recap without missing a beat. Sending a follow-up email with action items is a sales best practice â and increasingly, a buyer expectation. The Meeting Follow-up Play makes this a standard, automated step inside your Rhythm workflow.
In this article, you will learn about the Meeting Follow-up Play, including:
Before using the Meeting Follow-up Play, there are a few important things to know:
- Users who have Rhythm enabled will have access to the Meeting Follow-up Play.
- Users must connect their calendar for this Play to work.
- To benefit from Conversations-related features such as automatic action item extraction, users should have a package that includes access to Conversations.
- The Meeting Follow-up Play offers a slightly different experience depending on whether your team has access to Conversations and whether AI Integrations for Conversations is enabled. See Play Versions below for details.
- Teams that have Conversation Intelligence or Copilot recording will continue to receive Meeting Follow-up Play tasks in Rhythm automatically. No reconfiguration is required.
The version of the Meeting Follow-up Play your team sees depends on your Conversations access and AI settings. There are three versions:
Default Meeting Follow-up Play
Applies to: Teams without access to Salesloft Conversations.
When a scheduled meeting ends, the Play generates an email task due within 24 hours. No recording or AI processing is required â the Play works entirely from your connected calendar.
Default configuration:
- Play Name: Meeting Follow-up
- Signal: Meeting is completed (requires calendar connection)
- Action: Email task with the following default template:
Hi {{first_name}},
It was great meeting you. I wanted to follow up and include the action items that came out of our meeting.
Please let me know if there is anything else that I'm missing.
Action Items:
Thank you,
- Due Date: 24 hours after the signal is received. Essentially the next business day.
Meeting Follow-up Play + Recording
Applies to: Teams with access to Conversations and AI Integrations for Conversations disabled.
This version fires when a meeting is completed and a recording is available in Salesloft Conversations. The email task includes a link to the meeting recording so the rep can review what was discussed before sending the follow-up.
Default configuration:
- Play Name: Meeting Reminder
- Signal: Meeting is completed AND recording is available
- Requirements: Calendar connected; recording available in Salesloft Conversations
- Action: Email task with recording link and the same default template as above
- Due Date: 24 hours after the signal is received (next business day)
Meeting Follow-up Play + Action Items
Applies to: Teams with access to Conversations and AI Integrations for Conversations enabled.
This version fires when action items have been extracted from a recorded meeting using Google Gemini. The email task is pre-populated with those extracted action items, so the rep has a ready-to-send draft with minimal editing required.
Things to Note:
Default configuration:
- Play Name: Meeting Follow-up Play + Action Items
- Signal: Meeting is completed AND recording is available AND action items are available
- Action: Email task with the following default template:
Hi {{first_name}},
It was great meeting you. I wanted to follow up and include the action items that came out of our meeting. Please let me know if there is anything else that I'm missing.
Action Items:
{{action_items}}
Thank you, - Due Date: 24 hours after the signal is received (next business day)
Admins can enable, disable, or edit any version of the Meeting Follow-up Play from the Plays Settings page.
- Enable/Disable: Toggle the Play on or off for your team. When toggled off (gray), the Play will not fire for any users.
- Edit: Overwrite the default configuration to meet your team's needs â for example, updating the email template or adjusting the due date.
Things to Note:
- The Play name defaults to the type of Play being created.
- If the Play was created from a Play Framework, the signal may not be edited.
Admins can edit the following fields:
- Action: the instructions or template for the email task
- Due date
When the Meeting Follow-up Play triggers, an email task appears in the Rhythm Workflow of the user who owns the meeting.
Here's an example of how this works in practice:
Taylor is a seller whose team has the Meeting Follow-up Play + Action Items enabled. Taylor schedules a meeting with Acme Corp on Tuesday afternoon. The meeting runs well â next steps are discussed and the meeting ends.
Conversations processes the recording and extracts action items. Once complete, the Plays engine recognizes the signal and creates an email task assigned to Taylor, due in 24 hours.
The next day, the task appears in Taylor's Rhythm Workflow. The task shows the company name, meeting details, and â if the contact is associated with an open opportunity â deal information like stage and expected amount.
When Taylor clicks the task, the Deal view opens alongside an email compose window. The window is pre-loaded with the follow-up template and extracted action items. Taylor can also jump directly to the meeting recording from the compose window to review the conversation if needed. Once the email is ready, Taylor sends it and moves on to the next task.
Q: What happens if a meeting is not recorded?
A: The Meeting Follow-up Play + Recording and Meeting Follow-up Play + Action Items versions require a recording to trigger. If no recording is available, only the Default Meeting Follow-up Play will fire â and only if it is enabled for the team.
Q: Can admins change the email template?
A; Yes. Admins can edit the email template and due date for any version of the Play from the Plays Settings page.
Q: Does migrating to CoPilot require admins to update Play settings?
A: No. Existing Play configurations are honored automatically once CoPilot recording is active.
