Each person enrolled in a cadence is assigned a step status that reflects where they are in the cadence and whether action is needed. Understanding these statuses helps you prioritize your daily tasks and manage your cadence activity effectively.
In this article, you will learn the various step status, including:
The step is ready to be completed and is past its scheduled date. Due steps appear at the top of your task list and should be actioned first. A step becomes due when its scheduled date has passed and no action has been taken.
The step has been started but not yet completed. This typically applies to multi-part steps or steps that require a response before they can be marked complete.
The Person has run through all of the steps in the cadence and completed the final step.
The Person was removed from the cadence either manually or an automated process. You can explore the reasons why a Person was removed from a cadence in the People Removed from a Cadence Chart in the Step Analytics.
The step has a future action date assigned and is not yet ready to be completed. Scheduled steps will move to Due status when their action date arrives.
The step is waiting on an external condition before it can proceed. This may include waiting for a reply, a meeting to occur, or an automation to trigger. Pending steps do not require immediate action but should be monitored.
Step statuses are visible as filters inside a cadence overview and from the People tab within the Cadence. You can filter by status to focus on a specific group of people.
