A CRM Migration is the process of moving data from one CRM provider to another. While it may sound incredibly simple, migrating data is a complex change.
CRM Migrations include any of the following:
- Performing any of the following inside Salesforce:
- Switching from Salesforce to a different CRM
- Migrating Salesforce Instances
- Merging Salesforce Instances
- Updating My Domain
- Updating Account, Contact or Lead IDs
- Updating any of the following inside Hubspot:
- Switching from Hubspot to a different CRM
- Migrating Hubspot Instances
- Merging Hubspot Instances
- Updating the following inside Dynamics
- Updating App ID
- Updating Lead or Contact GUID
- Standalone (No CRM Connection) or custom API integration with CRM to:
- Implementing Salesforce
- Implementing Dynamics
- Implementing HubSpot
You may be under the impression that CRM migrations are a simple switch. In reality, CRM data is deeply embedded in Salesloft.
Fortunately, Salesloft has implemented processes to guide you through a CRM migration and keep your data syncing smoothly.
In this article, you will learn how to keep your Salesloft data syncing when you migrate your CRM, including:
- CRM migrations in Salesloft can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to complete. Data updates, including migrations, are handled by our in-house engineering team. All updates are added to a queue. The 2-6 weeks provides enough time for the team to complete the backend data migration and remove existing data.
- The process timeline is the same for teams that have already migrated their system. The timeline will not be shortened due to a pre-existing migration.
- Salesloft will not delete or take requests for mass-deletions during the migration process to prevent data loss. If there is an error from either party, Salesloft would not be able to undo a deletion.
- Your team can still use Salesloft during a CRM migration. However, CRM sync will not work during that time.
Salesloft offers services to assist and guide you through CRM migrations.
Things to Note:
- Your team will need to work with Salesloft in order to complete any migration. The Salesloft team will connect People and Accounts records between the former and the new system in the backend to make sure your data flows.
- You may work with a third party to plan and gather the information for a migration. However, you will still need to work with the Salesloft team to complete the migration since our in-house engineering team needs to make sure everything is linked properly on the backend.
We have two options for migration consultation:
Hands-on Migration [Recommended]
The Salesloft Consulting Services team offers paid CRM Migration projects to provide data and migration advisory services. With this option, your team partners with a dedicated Consultant to plan, audit, configure, test, and redeploy your Salesloft instance to your new CRM. The project timeline is between 2-6 weeks.
If you are interested in working with the Salesloft Consulting Services team for your CRM migration, please get in touch with your dedicated Account Manager.
Limited Assistance Migration
As an alternative option to the above-recommended approach, you can elect to complete all planning, configuration, testing, and deployment on your own.
These limited assistance migrations are at no cost. Unpaid migrations can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks.
Things to Note: The timeline listed above is an estimate. The time may vary depending on the amount of information that needs to be migrated between systems and the amount of materials provided to our team. If information is missing, the process could be delayed. Please confirm you are providing all of the necessary materials before requesting a migration.
Once your team is ready to switch to the new CRM, contact Salesloft’s support team so we can assist with bulk updating Salesloft Person and Account CRM IDs, and remove all linked Opportunity records to prevent sync errors.
***Please note this second option includes minimal consultation and guidance from our team. If your team is undergoing a complex migration(i.e. HubSpot to Salesforce, or Salesforce to Dynamics) or if you anticipate needing more hands-on assistance, reach out to your Account Manager to discuss working directly with a Solutions Consultant

- Person CSV file containing three fields: Salesloft, New 18 Digit Lead/Contact CRM ID, and Object Type ( Lead or Contact). Click here to learn how to export people from Salesloft.
- New Domain structure for URLs to be updated
- Once the Salesloft team has completed your data update, disconnect the Main CRM Connector under personal CRM Settings by toggling the Main CRM Connector Off.
- Review the following settings inside Salesloft to determine if any settings will vary or be impacted when connecting to a new CRM instance:
- Once your record updates are complete and your settings have been reviewed, your users can begin reconnecting. Reconnect the Main CRM Connector under their personal CRM settings and re-enable CRM Sync.
