The Salesloft Data Sync App is an External Client Application (ECA) in Salesforce that connects Salesloft to your team’s Salesforce CRM using a managed package.
To get your team connected, you need to complete two steps in sequence: install the Salesloft Data Sync App from the Salesforce AppExchange, then authorize it by connecting it to Salesloft via OAuth. This guide walks through both steps.
After completing this guide, you will be able to:
- Install the Salesloft Data Sync App from the Salesforce AppExchange
- Authorize the Salesloft Data Sync App as your team's active Salesforce integration via OAuth
- Confirm the Salesloft Data Sync App is connected and ready for your team to migrate
In this article:
Before starting, confirm you have the following:
- Salesforce System Administrator or a profile with 'Install AppExchange Packages' permission.
- One of the following Salesforce editions: Professional (with API access), Enterprise, or Unlimited.
- We recommend using the Google Chrome browser.
- Important: The admin account used to authorize the ECA in Part 2 will become the integration user for your team's CRM sync. This is typically a dedicated Salesforce integration user, not a personal admin account. See Manage CRM Sync for requirements.
Things to Note:
- Open the AppExchange listing: Navigate to the Salesloft Data Sync App listing on the Salesforce AppExchange.
- Log in to Salesforce: If prompted, log in with your Salesforce administrator credentials.
- Select an installation option: On the Package Installation Details page, choose one of the following:
- Install for All Users (recommended) — grants all users read/write access to the activity fields.
- Install for Admins Only — limits package access to administrators. Users will not be able to connect to Salesforce from within Salesloft if this option is selected. All user activity will then fail to sync to Salesforce.
- Install for Specific Profiles — grants access to selected Salesforce profiles only.
- Confirm and install: Read and accept the terms and conditions, then click Install. Salesforce will begin installing the package.
- Things to Note: Installation may take a few minutes. Salesforce will send a confirmation email to your admin address when complete.
- Approve third-party access if prompted: If Salesforce displays a prompt about granting access to third-party websites, select Yes, grant access to these third-party websites and click Continue.
- Confirm the App Status: In Salesforce, go to Setup > Home, search for External Client Apps, open it, and confirm the App Status shows as "enabled".
Once the Salesloft Data Sync App is installed, authorize it in Salesloft to establish the integration user connection.
- Open CRM Settings: In Salesloft, go to your Settings. Select CRM. Then click Connect in Salesloft.
- Things to Note: If you were previously connected to the Salesforce CRM, disconnect and then click Connect to the Salesforce CRM.
- Initiate the OAuth flow: Click Connect next to the Salesloft Data Sync App connection. You will be redirected to your Salesforce login page.
- Log in and authorize: Log in to Salesforce with the credentials of the user you want to set as the integration user. Review the permissions requested and click Allow.
- Things to Note: Log in as the dedicated Salesforce integration user here — not your personal admin account — unless the same account serves both roles for your team.
- Return to Salesloft and confirm: After authorizing, you will be redirected back to Salesloft. Confirm the connection status shows as connected on the CRM Settings page.
You've successfully installed and connected the Salesloft Data Sync App when:
- The Salesloft Data Sync App package appears in your Salesforce Installed Packages list (Setup > Installed Packages) with a status of Installed.
- You received a confirmation email from Salesforce to your admin address.
- The CRM Settings page in Salesloft shows the Salesloft Data Sync App as connected, with the Salesforce username of your integration user displayed.
- CRM Sync continues to function without interruption — activity logging and deal sync are unaffected.
