Conversations relies heavily on your calendar. In fact, before you set up Conversations, you must connect to your Calendar. Conversations won’t work without it.
You see, Conversations records meetings, but your calendar lays out those meeting details like when to join a meeting, how long to record, and who will be present. The calendar can even keep Conversations from joining meetings you may not want to be recorded based on calendar responses.
Since Conversations and your calendar have such a powerful relationship, it’s important to understand what keeps things in sync.

As mentioned above, the Conversations bot is designed to join meetings on your calendar. However, the bot's behavior may adjust* based on your calendar responses. In other words, the way you RSVP to a meeting invite tells the bot what it should be doing.
Things to Note:
- Bot calendar response-driven behavior is currently only applicable to users using a Google calendar.
- * The bot's behavior is dependent upon how the Conversations team settings are configured under Bot Behavior.
- If the Default Join Behavior of Bot will only record meetings when a Conversations-enabled team member is the organizer of the calendar event is enabled, it will override the Conversations user's response to calendar events organized by someone outside that user's company.
The bot's behavior is based on the Conversations user's response to the meeting invite. Use the chart below to learn how the bot will behave based on your meeting responses:
| Meeting Response | Bot Behavior Description |
| Accepts | The bot will join/not join the meeting based on how their Salesloft team's Default Join Behavior has been configured. |
| Declines | The bot will not join the meeting. |
| Maybe or Tentative | The bot will join/not join the meeting based on how their Salesloft team's Default Join Behavior has been configured. |
| Does not respond | The bot will join/not join the meeting based on how their Salesloft team's Default Join Behavior has been configured. |
Once Conversations has been enabled, you may wonder, "How do I know this meeting will be recorded?"
To verify that a meeting is being recorded, you may use the following features:
- Google Calendar users can check for the Salesloft Conversations notice in your Google Calendar invite.
- Set up Conversations notifications in your settings.
