Once you’ve set up your Salesloft to CRM integration, understanding how activities log in your CRM is important for running reports on various Salesloft activities in the CRM.
CRM Activity Logging refers to how Salesloft activities are recorded in your CRM system. Each activity type logs the same standard information by default. When logging tasks to CRM, the standard subject lines of the log are referred to as the "syntax". Along with the syntax, most activity logs include pertinent information about the logged activity.
In this article, you will find a comprehensive guide of CRM activity log types and the syntax for those activities, including:
Activity logging is automatically set up for most Salesloft activities, with the exception of Hot Leads. Most activities are logged as "Completed" by default. To include further activity data and information, a Salesloft admin can map activity information from the Activity Field Configuration.
Things to Note:
- Custom Activity Field Mapping is only available for Salesforce and Dynamics CRM users.
- By default, any activity logged in Salesloft also logs to your CRM, and you can edit or disable this setting at any time.
- If your team does not use a CRM, activity logging settings are still relevant. These settings must be enabled for corresponding activities to be accessible in Salesloft’s CRM Activities API endpoint and Salesloft’s Failing Activity Log. Keeping these settings enabled is beneficial if you later integrate with a CRM and want to push activities retroactively.
- Activities can be set up to log under their own task record type.
All activity will be logged on the Lead or Contact level. If a Contact is associated with an Account, the activity will also log under the Account’s activity history.
You can view activity logs on the Person or Account profile pages in Salesloft, as well as the Lead, Contact, and Account records in your CRM.
Activity Logging Syntax details can be accessed through the list of activity types provided, which includes Email, Call, Meeting, LinkedIn, and others.
Things to Note: For teams with the Insight from Salesloft managed package, the corresponding values for the “Salesloft Type” field are indicated.
Activity Logging syntax includes various activity types, each with its own specific format. Use the chart below to explore each log type.
