If you are currently on Drift's pre 2021 pricing plan then you have Seats included in your Drift plan. If you are on a 2021 pricing plan then your drift org will not have seats and will instead have User Roles!

What is a Seat?

Within Drift, a seat is essentially an opening in your Drift instance that a teammate can fill! So for instance if your Drift instance has eight seats total and only seven are being used, you can invite one more teammate to that Drift instance. If you had all eight seats being used you would need to add more seats to your plan to invite more teammates. Not only do seats determine the amount of teammates you can have in your Drift instance, they also, along with user permissions, determine what a user can access within Drift!

What types of seats are available?

The Admin Seat

The Admin Seat grants a user access to everything within Drift! This includes all conversations, and all settings including, billing, teammate management, security, and integrations. Please note that only admins are able to access the specific areas that are listed above.

The Chat User Seat

The Chat User Seat allows teammates to access conversations, Drift Meetings, and a limited view of playbooks and contacts. The types of conversations a teammate can access are determined by their conversation access level which is set when you assign a user to a seat. The three different access levels available are: 

• All conversations
• Their conversations only
• Their conversations only and ones with no participants

The Reporting Only Seat

The Reporting Only Seat grants a user access to all of Drift reporting which includes reports for playbooks, conversations, ROI, and automation. 

The Playbook Editor Seat

The Playbook Editor Seat allows access to all playbook features as well as playbook reports. This seat is perfect for someone who is building playbooks but not actively chatting.

Please note that both the Reporting Only and the Playbook Editor seats are only available on our enterprise plan and  DO NOT have access to Drift's chat feature!

The Lite Seat

The Lite Seat allows limited to access to Drift and is the perfect seat for reps who do a lot of outbound prospecting! The Lite Seat does not include chat but comes with, email tracking, video messaging, and meeting scheduling.
