Use Cases for the FastLane Quick Setup
Previously, FastLane required the installation of a JavaScript widget as found here. With the new Fastlane Quick Setup installation process detailed above, Drift Admins or Marketers are now able to quickly enable a Fastlane Playbook without needing to forward any code to their Web Developer, making it quick and easy for users to install and start benefiting from a Fastlane experience.
How to use the Fastlane Quick Setup Option
To use the Fastlane Quick Setup Option:
- Go to Playbooks and select Fastlane Playbooks.
- Click Create Fastlane Playbook.
- Name your Playbook and Click Continue.
- Enter the URL where your form is located.
- Select your form and follow the on screen instructions to run a test to see if Quick Setup is an option for you. Note: If quick setup is not an option for you, Drift will present instructions on how to proceed with the manual installation method.
- Select if visitors should be redirected to a different page. (If yes, enter the URL of the page you’d like to redirect too)
- Click Create Playbook.
If the type of form on your page is not supported or if Drift is unable to detect a form on your page then you will need to manually install the Javascript on the web page that has your form on it.
Types of Forms Supported
Currently Drift supports:
- HTML Forms
- Hubspot Forms
- Marketo Forms
Depending on your specific form configuration, it is possible that Drift may not support your form even if it is one of the types listed above. If you have a custom form implementation or if your form has redirects built in, it is likely that Fastlane Quick Setup will not work with your form. Drift recommends that you turn off any redirects configured in your forms and rely on Drift’s redirect system if you want to use Quick Setup.

Troubleshooting
Form not passing the initial diagnostic required to use Quick Setup? Here are some ways to troubleshoot:
- Form was NOT found:
- If the form is reported as not being found, it is possible that you are attempting to use a form type that is not natively supported by Fastlane. Currently Fastlane works natively with HTML, HubSpot, and Marketo forms. Fastlane will work with many other types of forms, but setting them up with Fastlane will require installing a JavaScript snippet on the form’s page.
- If you are using one of the support form types and are still receiving this message, it is possible that the implementation is making it difficult for Drift to recognize on the page. For example, this might happen if you have a Marketo form wrapped in an iframe or the form does not appear until the site visitor completes a specific action.
- Form was NOT submitted OR the form data was NOT sent or saved:
- If you have submitted the form in the testing window, but the form is not being shown as submitted or the data is not being sent or saved, access the form outside of the Fastlane setup wizard and make a test submission.
- If you see your test submission in your form providers’ reporting, your form is working as expected, but Drift won’t be able to get a read on it without installing a JavaScript snippet on the page.
- If you do not see your test submission in your form providers’ reporting (or it’s there but with inaccurate data), there is likely an issue in how you have the form setup and you should consult with your implementation team and/or the form provider. Upon resolving, go through the Fastlane setup wizard to confirm Drift sees the form submission.
- Form DID redirect:
- Redirects that are built into the page or form itself (e.g. configured in your MAP) should be removed prior to using Fastlane. This is because they can sometimes make it difficult for your Fastlane playbook to appear before the redirect happens. If you are unable to remove the built-in redirect, you can still use Fastlane, but you will need to install using our manual, JavaScript installation method.
If at any point in time you are stuck in the testing flow, you can always exit and continue down the manual, JavaScript setup process by following the instructions on the page. The manual, JavaScript installation is compatible with many form setup types; despite any errors on this step, you will likely be able to activate Fastlane via this alternative installation method.
