Okay, but how do I start?
1. First things first, log in as an admin and click settings on the left hand side of your Drift interface, and go to App Settings > Drift Widget > Install > JavaScript

2. Next, click the copy button to copy the code that is displayed.

3. Login to your Shopify Account and click into your Theme under "Sales Channels".

4. Once you've clicked into your Theme, click on your Live Theme and use the dropdown menu to Edit the Code

5. Click the "theme.liquid" option on the top of your page and add your Drift snippet right under the <head> tag in the code

Note:
Please make sure that the widget is only installed once on your site, otherwise you may run into issues with your widget behavior.
Seeing Possible Errors
If you get an error message when choosing where you want the Drift plugin enabled, don't panic! This often happens,, but if you check your store or cart (depending on where it's enabled) the Drift Chat Widget should still be there!

If installing Drift through the steps above does not work for you, have no fear! There is a second way to install Drift onto your site. Head back to the Install tab of the Drift Widget settings, and copy the JavaScript snippet.

7. Take the Javascript Snippet and add it into the <head> section of your website's backend.

For more information on installing through the Javascript snippet, read this doc.
8. Once you've added the snippet into the <head> section, go to Drift and double check to ensure that your widget is turned on. Then hop over to your Shopify site and see if the Chat Widget Icon is visible. The Chat Widget looks like this (or something similar if you have customized it in your settings):

Please note: within Drift it will continue to give you the option to connect Shopify, even after you've properly installed it, but you will be able to see that it is installed from within the apps tab on Shopify.
FAQs
Will Drift affect page load times?
Actually, no! Your site will load just as fast as it does without Drift installed. Drift is loaded asynchronously, which means it won't slow down your page or prevent users from interacting with your site. It actually lets the rest of the site load first before Drift loads itself. Drift also uses a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to ensure that Drift appears as efficiently as possible, no matter where in the world your users are coming from!
