When you connect a tool to your Dynamics account, you probably want to be able to map custom fields into Dynamics! That way, you can maintain existing structures and workflows built around Dynamics objects.
We know that Dynamics is highly customizable for each company, so we wanted to make sure that Drift can fit seamlessly into your Dynamics workflow by allowing the default fields that you map in Dynamics available in Drift!
Data like UTM information, IP address, time zone, city, state, etc. that you can pick up in a conversation itself can now be mapped in your Dynamics integration!
You can manually add and map Dynamics attributes, or use a CSV upload!
How To Set Up Dynamics Mapping
Click on Settings, and go to your Integrations.
You can Search or scroll down to find the Dynamics Integration on this page.
Select Contacts as the Dynamics object you would like to map to.

Here is where you can setup the attribute mapping. You can choose whether to map your attributes to Leads or Contacts, depending on what you are syncing to Dynamics.

Mapping is rather intuitive. As we fill attributes in Drift, we can push them over to fields in Dynamics.
In the picture above, whatever value we have for First Name will be entered into the Dynamics field First Name.
You'll notice different field types (String, Boolean, Date, etc), be sure to match the correct field type! For example Boolean with true/false.
Overwrite Attributes
As you map the attributes Drift syncs to Dynamics you might want to clarify which side is the source of truth. If the attribute on a contact already exists - do we overwrite it or keep it the same?
In the Mapped Dynamics Attributes section of the Dynamics settings, we now have a toggle to customize how Drift handles this!
