You can track certain events in Drift and add them to your HubSpot's contact timeline! You can then create lists based on these events and be able to retarget your site visitors who have chatted with you using Drift.
Plan availability: Drift's integration with HubSpot is available on any paid Drift plan, starting with Premium.
In this help doc, we'll go over
- What events can be tracked?
- What if my Drift events are not showing in HubSpot?
- How can the Events in HubSpot be used
What events can be tracked?
These events will be automatically added to your contacts, with no work needing to be done on your side. The four types of events you can track from Drift to HubSpot are:
- A conversation in Drift will be represented by two events in Hubspot.
One reflects the beginning of the conversation:

The other reflects the conversation ending. Optionally, this event can include the conversation transcript as well.

- Anytime a meeting was booked in Drift by a HubSpot contact.

- Marking a Lead as a CQL in Drift

Deprecation Note: You may see the events Drift Campaign Response and Drift Message Sent. These events are of limited utility and are subject for deprecation. Please use the above 4 events where applicable instead.
Not seeing the events in the timeline?
First, make sure you have selected the Drift checkbox to filter for seeing the Drift events on the timeline!

Second, check your sync settings in your HubSpot App Settings within Drift.
Note: If you’re waiting to create contacts until the Conversation is Closed, the events will send during that initial sync.

Here are the details:
If you have the checkbox selected, Drift will save the last events that occur on the contact in the conversation and push those over when the conversation closes. Once the contact is created in HubSpot, all the above events will push over whenever conversation Close happens. However...
If you or your teammates have not Closed the Drift conversation within 7 days of the contact creation, then the event information for that contact will no longer be sent into HubSpot.
For example, if you Create Contact only on Conversation Closed rather than leaving that setting unchecked, have a conversation with a new contact who books a meeting, and then leave it open for 8 days before Closing it, then you will not see the Meeting Booked event for that contact on their timeline in HubSpot.
How can I use these events in HubSpot?
Drift events can be used to trigger workflows in Hubspot. Here are a few examples of how you might want to use them.
Use the Drift Conversation Closed event to enroll users in a workflow.

Using the condition Conversation URL is a good way to signify that a conversation actually happened, as no conversation in Drift would sync to Hubspot without Conversation URL value.
From there, you can use other details on the activity to get as layered as you need, including the Playbook ID and the date that the event Occurred. You can even reference Contact Properties you sourced from Drift to drill down further. Here’s an example of a more specific trigger.

In most cases, the Conversation Closed event will have everything you need to trigger a workflow in Hubspot and enroll contacts in specific campaigns or nurture.
The Meeting Booked event is another good one for creating a specific lane for high-intent visitors. To trigger off this event, consider using the Occurred filter to pick people who booked meetings after a certain point in time. For a broader filter, try Agent Name is Known since every meeting with Drift should come to Hubspot with an Agent Name representing the Drift User the meeting was booked with.
